Al Riise

Al Riise

My names is Al Riise and I reside in Calgary Alberta.

Born and raised in South-West Saskatchewan always interested in cars and car clubs. Upon graduating from Shaunavon High School, within days I boarded the CPR passenger train for go to DeVry Technical Institute. After graduation, I started work in Downtown Toronto with Edison Voicewriter Division servicing Office Dictating machines.  I met and married Pauline. In the fall of 1968, moved to Calgary. We resumed our interest in old cars and joined the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club.

While attending various car meets, it became apparent that their should have a provincial meeting of the various clubs to reduce conflicts on events.

With friends from various clubs, such as John Harding, Al Litke, Lorne Schmidt, Jim Stuive, and many others we laid the foundation for the creation of the Alberta Association of Antique Auto Clubs.

In 2000, other clubs had been looking at creating an Association and heard about the AAAAC and made contact. A joint meeting was held in Red Deer and we formed one association. Discussion was held on the name, so we agreed to change it to the Specialty Vehicle Association of Alberta to accommodate all collector owners.
I bring a positive “can do” attitude to my day.  I enjoy meeting and working with people in a variety of roles  - newsletter editor/printer/publisher/distributor and of course as a connector of classic car knowledge.

I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new collector vehicle owners at events all around Alberta.
